CPAC’s Skewed Priorities: Progressive Liberal RINO Bob McDonnell Invited – GoProud Shunned

The Progressive Liberal Republican in Name Only – RINO – Governor Bob McDonnell, who just pushed through the largest tax increase in Virginia history, was invited to the 2013 CPAC Convention. McDonnell has been asked to speak at the Faith & Freedom Coalition Prayer Breakfast.

Now if you don’t know who Bob McDonnell is, this was the man who ran four years ago claiming to be a fiscal conservative. He told voters and supporters alike that unlike his opponent Senator Creigh Deeds, he would not raise taxes to pay for Virginia’s pressing Transportation needs. He would, instead, privatize the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control monopoly realizing huge savings and profits that would pay for our roads.

Well, he gave up on that plan as soon as he was sworn in.

To McDonnell’s credit, he managed to contrive a budget surplus and an audit of the Virginia Department of Transportation turned up over a billion dollars in “lost” funds.

Between the budget surplus and the “found” cash at VDOT, you would think we would have solved our Transportation funding. Unfortunately, McDonnell frittered and wasted the surplus by giving bonuses and raises to state workers and other wasteful spending. Of course, they blame this on a law they passed several years ago that was enacted to make sure the state never had to repay taxpayers for taking more money than they really needed.

And on top of that, McDonnell pushed through a major expansion of Welfare by pushing for legislation that expands Medicaid far beyond what Virginia can afford. But Obama waved more money in front of their noses. And the fact is that this money runs out in a couple of years while the new entitlement spending will continue to grow.

We will be looking at yet another tax increase to pay for McDonnellCare.

Conservative? Bob McDonnell is just another big spending, bog government guy.

And he receives an invitation to speak at CPAC.

And once again this year we have one of the most Conservative groups around, GoProud, that are being shunned by CPAC.

Why?

Because they happen to be gay.

When we have a Republican Party full of big spending Progressives like Bob McDonnell, Eric Cantor, John Boehner and Mitch McConnell, we really have a larger problem than worrying about the private sex lives of fellow Conservatives who are every bit as fed up with big spending government as the rest of us.

I am everything that pisses liberals off. Straight, White, male, Christian, Conservative and (less and less these days)  a Republican.

But we are well past the times when we could look at the personal lives of those who are on the same side in fighting the out of control spending and cast them aside because we disagree with their lifestyle.

But the fiscal mess we are in renders – or should render – all else irrelevant. The massive debt we face as a nation is the only priority we need to worry about as it will destroy us all. And then, the social issues we like to use as a wedge – and that the left is only too happy to keep in the spotlight – will be moot. None of us will have any freedom or liberty at all.

Debt is the fatal threat that will eventually collapse this nation into … who knows what?

The enemy is people like McDonnell who lie to your face to get elected and then go all in for big government spending.

It has been my experience that the gay members of GoProud are far more honest and honorable than Virginia’s current governor.

We need to set aside our differences and work together with those of like minded fiscal resolve.

Or debt will be the death of us all.
